Description:
Aaron, 34 years of age,  is short…painfully short.  He has his boots crafted with larger heels to make him stand 5’2”.  He wears a brown widebrim that hides most of his sandy brown hair, except where the hair is longer in the back.  He often neglects to shave, but doesn’t have more than stubble even after four days.  If he tries to grow a beard, it comes in patches and tufts.  Aaron usually tries to avoid this unkempt stage.  His build is neither thin, nor stocky.  He tips the weights at one hundred sixty pounds, but few would call him fat.  His weight is in his athletic arms and legs, not on his torso.  He uses half-glasses to read his many books, and often forgets he’s wearing them.  Behind his glasses are eyes of two colors.  Though both are blue, one eye is definatley lighter blue than the other.   This color variance is very noticible when Aaron isn’t wearing his glasses.  His eyes have provoked comments even by strangers.   “Your eyes sir, they aren’t the same color!  Is it a defect from birth?”   His lips are thin, but his teeth are white and straight.  Though he rarely smiles, when he does, two creases of dimples appear in his cheeks.

Does your Hero have recurring mannerisms?  Aaron carries a journal and is constantly jotting down notes.  He is fascinated by new occurances   and often jots down the most trivial fact or idea. He never remembers names.  He never writes down names in his journal either.  Often embarrased when meeting someone who obviously has met his acquaintance, he will often resort to calling them good fellow or good lady to avoid letting them realize he does not remember their name.

What is your Hero's main motivations?  Knowledge. Aaron thirsts for knowledge as man thirsts for water. Syrenth artifacts, traces of lost cultures, rare wine, an obscure farming implement.  Finding and cataloging the unknown bring excitement and purpose into this scholar’s life.

What is your Hero's greatest strengths?  Aaron’s mind is far advanced among scholars.  Although relatively unknown outside Carleon, he has already made a local name for himself and attracted members of the Explorer’s Guild charterhouse with exploits of his driving passion for discovery of the unknown.

Greatest Weaknesses?  Single-minded purpose is a blessing and a fault.  He often neglects himself and others around him when he is on the hunt for discovery.  He exhibits no fear of danger nor applies no common sense if it prohibits him from continuing his search.  His eager doggedness can quickly turn into folly.

What are your Hero's most and least favorite things?  Aaron hates to rise early, unless he is hunting knowledge. Then he cares little if he sleeps or not. Being roused at an early hour leaves him irritable and sour.  Burning a candle into the wee morning hours engrossed in a book or ancient tome delights Aaron more than eating.

What about your Hero's psychology?  Of all the great mysteries to be discovered, Aaron’s least interest is human nature.  He cares little what others think of him.  He scorns politics and especially the subject of religion.  His father taught at the Carleon University sponsered by the Vaticine Church.  When Avalon broke away to embrace the Sidhe magic, Aaron’s father clung to the teachings of the Holy Church.  Aaron never understood how his father, a scholar, could be religious in the face of so many scientific and naturalistic discoveries.  Since Aaron could not accept his father’s faith, nor any faith, he began to grow aloof to human pettyness and surrounded himself with scholars who shared his views on science and naturalism.

What is your Hero's single greatest fear?  Aaron fears the Vaticine purge of search for knowledge.  He is not anti Vaticine, nor pro religion.  Although he doesn’t fear the inquisitors themselves, the concept of being prevented from learning new things haunts his nightmares.

What are your Hero's highest ambitions? Discovery the artifacts left behind by the Syrneth is a high priority because they represent lost knowledge.  But Aaron aspires to know more than any other human in Theah.  Aaron has heard the quote, “Knowledge is power.”   Aaron desires no power, only the knowledge is important.  If someone else gains power due to Aaron’s discoveries, it is insignificant.

What is your Hero's opinion of his country?  Aaron is non-chalant about his origins and country.  He admired Queen Elaine’s decision to oust the Vaticine when it happened.  Afterward, he would have to be reminded he was Avalonion to have the concept enter his preoccupied mind.

Does your hero have any predjudices?  Aaron pays little attention to people…except tall people: Men and Women. Being short of stature his entire life, he learned to hate bullies, often the brunt of their buffoonish pranks.  As a youth with yearnings similar to all youths, Aaron found himself attracted to taller girls. These tall girls (almost all compared to Aaron) had little time or affection for the short, bookish boy with glasses.  Although he desires tall women passionately, Aaron almost always expects to be treated with an air of flippancy and disrespect.

Where do your Hero's loyalites lie? Aaron’s loyalties were self-centered until he was invited into the
Explorer’s Society.  Within the secret walls of knowledge, he found a common bond with scholars and
adventurers like himself.  The society allows Aaron to pursue his ambition.  The society has gained a dogged investigator.

Is your Hero in love? (This explains LOVE LOST ADVANTAGE)   Aaron spent his teen years reading, studying, and honing his physical skills to allow him stamina to follow his quest for knowledge.  Finding no male companions who were interested in accompanying him, Aaron befriended another bespectacled youth named Mary Denise Cottlam.   She did not share his passion
for exploring, but she had a passion for young Aaron.  Mary Denise was more than a head taller than Aaron. Her girlfriends would giggle and call Aaron a runtbehind his back.  They finally persuaded Mary Denise to join them in pursuing taller, more active boys. Aaron had made a small discovery of stone arrowheads in the mounds near the jousting arena.  Seeing Mary Denise with her girlfriends, he hurried over to share his discovery.  While her girlfriends giggled, Stom Mason, a tall, local tough who fancied Mary Denise for himself challanged Aaron to a stick-fight.  The narrow log was surrounded by mud.  Aaron saw no reason to fight the taller boy, but he had no reason not to try the new experience.  He lost quickly and was covered with mud.   Even through his stained glasses he could see Mary Denise laughing with the other girls.  He felt the pain in his chest that only lost love brings. He avoided Mary Denise forever after that and only felt a twinge when she married Stom Mason.  He never loved another woman again.  When he was forced to be in the company of a woman, he did not give her womanhood another thought, unless she was very tall. Then he had trouble concentrating on his studies until the woman rejected him (as they always did.)

What about your hero's family? Aaron’s mother was small.  His father tall and gaunt.  Aaron got his
height from her.  He never really blamed her, but often when he was younger he would wish it was the other way.  Being the son of a Vaticine Academy scholar gave Aaron many opportunities to be near books and learning.  Aaron was an only child.  His mother doted on him and made him studies his athletics as well as his books.  She feared for his not being able to defend himself.  To please his mother, Aaron studied athletics and practiced with a dagger, including throwing it at a nearby tree.  Often his mother would watch him from the window, book in one hand dagger in the other.  When Aaron was introduced to gunpowder and firearms, his natural inquisitiveness propelled him to study the firing mechanism, trajectory, and phsyics of the propellent.  While studing the properties of firearms, Aaron became proficient with their use.

How would your Hero's parents describe him/her?  Aaron’s mother Matilda, took a steaming apple-tart pie from the hearth and looked about to find her young man.  He wasn’t in his usual corner reading.  She glanced out the window to see him in his peculiar dance.  Arm outstretched, hand holding a book, and the other hand making graceful arcs and thrusts with his dagger.  She hoped he never would have to use a dagger, but she was glad he took her advice to learn to protect himself.  She set the pie on the sill to cool.  She knew Aaron would soon smell the fragrance.  Apple-tart was her son’s favorite.

Aaron’s father arrived from another dismal day.  It seemed today’s youth did not want to learn from
history.  They wanted to create history.  As he crossed the cobblestone walkway, Arnath glanced at his son dancing and reading at the same time.  So much talent with that one, yet so tragic as to be destined to a height so restrictive in courtly appearance.  He will never be any more than his father, a scholar who teaches to students who do not want to learn.  Arnath smelled the apple-tart pie cooling in the window.  She spoils him, he thought.

Is your Hero a gentleman or gentlewoman? Neither rude nor charming, Aaron has enough family background and intelligence to behave in social settings.  He avoids parties and gatherings, but if circumstance finds him attending an event, he uses his wits to further his quest for knowledge.  Sometimes even the most boring patron at a party might have a lead to a new discovery.

How religous is your Hero?  Aaron’s father was devout. His mother was not.  Aaron was never sure how his father could be a follower of the church.  They repressed  knowledge and steeped their dogma in theory and superstition.  Aaron believes religion isn’t for the serious minded, although he will not debate it.

Is your Hero a member of a guild, gentleman's club or secret society?  Jareth Woodson invited young Aaron to the chapterhouse of the Explorer’s Society.  Aaron had just left his teens and finished his experiments with gunpowder and weapons.  Jareth had heard of Aaron’s experiments with trajectory.  He asked young Aaron for a demonstration.  When Aaron was finished plotting the angles and heights of the fired balls, Woodson was convinced the Society need Aaron as much as Aaron needed the society.  Aaron accepted the invitation and often makes use of the Society’s librarys and secret experimentation rooms.

What does your Hero think of sorcery? Being from Avalon, Aaron believes in Glamour.  He’s had no demonstrations of other magic although he has read all he can find on Porte, Fate Witches, Occult, and Shapeshifting.  He doesn’t doubt it, but would like to study it to see if there is a common denominator which would tie the whole fabric of magic together.  Aaron suspects the denominator is much like the common thread of language, though each one different, similar enough to be learned easily.  (Which Aaron has already accomplished.)

If you could what advice would you give your Hero?  Aaron, find a short girl and settle down.  What possible motive could drive you to climb under carriage wheels and practically lose your ear to that horse hoove?  It’s not important how many legs of the horse leave the ground at the same time.  Okay, maybe I not curious about horse hooves.  Why should you be?  Have you ever thought about children to pass your knowledge to?
